Learning Urdu from outside Pakistan
Children growing up abroad often understand Urdu but cannot read or write it. Short online lessons two or three times a week, with simple reading practice in between, build the script quickly. Choose a tutor who is patient with beginners and uses stories and games for younger children.
Frequently asked questions
Can my child learn Urdu online from abroad?
Yes. Many tutors teach Urdu reading, writing and conversation online to children in the UK, the Gulf and North America, at times that fit your time zone.
What is the difference between O Level First Language and Second Language Urdu?
First Language Urdu (3247) is for students with strong Urdu and is more demanding. Second Language Urdu (3248) is the more common choice for O Level students in Pakistan. Your school will tell you which one your child is entered for.
